“And without faith it is impossible to please Him, for whoever would draw near to God must believe that He exists and that He rewards those who seek Him.” (Hebrews 11:6)

The very short passages that mention the life of Enoch in the Bible have always stood out to me. A man who walked with God for many, many years (Genesis 5:22-24), and whom God had taken away having been commended as one who pleased God (Hebrews 11:5). And, I can only imagine what this would have looked like. Believing and knowing that every step taken, from the moment he would wake up until he would lay down to sleep, is with the Creator of the Universe, communicating with Him constantly, asking Him for help, relying on His strength, bringing Him every frustration, rejoicing in His creation and bringing thanks for the breath He has given and every answered prayer. EVERY SINGLE DAY. Was his walk perfect? I doubt it. But he chose to walk with God, in the good and the bad, in his failures and successes.

And I believe that the life of Enoch, and the whole of Hebrews 11 for that matter, invites us into a greater trust, to believe that God is who He says He is and we are who His Word says we are. To take Him at His Word. To not lean on our own understanding or strength, but to depend on the mercy and love of God the Father, the finished work of Jesus Christ at Calvary, and the Holy Spirit as our Helper and the One to lead us into all truth. To walk with God every single day. To walk by faith.
