In this is love, not that we have loved God but that He loved us and sent His Son to be the propitiation for our sins. (1 John 4:10)

One thing that the Holy Spirit has been bringing to mind a lot lately is this topic of the steadfast love of God the Father. And this love is seen the best in the sacrifice of Jesus Christ on the cross. When we look at what Jesus Christ has done, so that we can be saved, healed, set free and inherit eternal life, we get to know true love. A love that is patient. A love that is sincere and suffered long. A love that is not selfish, but sacrificial. A love that is not afraid. A love that is perfect, with no blemishes. A love that draws near to the broken-hearted and binds up the wounds. A love that lifts up those who are bowed down. A love that sets the captives free. A love that seeks the lost. A love that never gives up and never fails. A love that protects. A love that never leaves us nor forsakes us. A love that washes us clean. A love that displays power in our weaknesses. A love that remains when the seasons change.

And we could probably go on and on, but this is a reminder, if we have forgotten, that we are loved with an everlasting, unfailing love. And if we go through seasons when we feel like it’s hard for us to see and understand God’s love for us, we need not look any further than the cross and sacrifice of Jesus Christ.

But He was pierced for our transgressions; He was crushed for our iniquities; upon Him was the chastisement that brought us peace, and with His wounds we are healed. (Isaiah 53:5)
