“Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make straight your paths.” (Proverbs 3:5-6)

These two verses have become like an anthem for my life for many years now, and I realize every time I read them that I am still learning to trust in the Lord. I had thought that if I memorized them and recited them that I was actually putting them into practice as well. But now, looking back, I can see that it’s been a journey of learning to trust in the Lord, to not lean on my own understanding and to acknowledge Him in all I do. I have made plenty of mistakes along the way by doing things how I thought best. And I have also let worry have a seat at my table, forgetting that the Lord is in control, not only of the present but also of the future. If He has brought me thus far, I know that He will take care of my tomorrows. And all I have to do today is to trust in Him, to lean on Him for strength and wisdom and trust that He will lead me where I need to be. And tomorrow, repeat.
