A Father in Heaven

“As a father shows compassion to his children, so the Lord shows compassion to those who fear Him.” (Psalm 103:13)

While I was reading and re-reading this Psalm, verse 13 stood out. And the message is simple but exactly what our heart aches for - to know that we have a Father in heaven who has compassion on us. When we are weak and fail and fall, our Father in heaven cares for us and helps us back up. He watches over us and holds us in the palm of His hand. He is good, full of mercy and steadfast love, and He is righteous and just. He gives good gifts and works all things out for the good of those that love Him. And no matter what we go through, our Father in heaven does not change. He is there in the good days and in the bad ones. He does not hold anger forever, neither does He repay us according to our sins. When we walk away in rebellion, like the prodigal son, He waits for us to come back. And when we return to Him, He is ready to forgive us, to restore us, to clothe us with a new robe and show us how much He loves us.

And today, if you have forgotten, this can be a reminder that you have a Father in heaven who is faithful and loving, and who cares for each of us individually. There is no partiality with Him. So come and pour out your heart before Him. And entrust your life into the hands of our compassionate Heavenly Father.
