Bring Your Requests

“Give thanks to the Lord, for He is good, for His steadfast love endures forever. Give thanks to the God of gods, for His steadfast love endures forever. Give thanks to the Lord of lords, for His steadfast love endures forever; to Him who alone does great wonders, for His steadfast love endures forever;” (Psalm 136:1-4)

“What do you want God to do for you?”, is the question that popped in my mind as I finished reading Psalm 136 in its entirety. Skimming over the verses a second time, I noticed that the psalmist had listed many of the things that God had done, from the wonders of creation, to miracles upon miracles that He displayed for the people of Israel. Nothing was too hard for Him. Nobody could stand against Him. And I was reminded that the God who did all those things back then has not changed. His power is not diminished. His resources are not depleted. He is still God of gods, Lord of lords, God of heaven, and the One who works great wonders on behalf of His people. And because of this, we can come to Him with all of our requests and we can bring Him thanks for all He is, all He has done and all He can do.
