“I have set the Lord always before me; because He is at my right hand, I shall not be shaken.” (Psalm 16:8)

I can get easily shaken when I look at my own circumstances and let worry and fear creep in, or when I compare myself to others and am discontent with what I have or where I am at. And I found out that the only way to stay steadfast, to persevere, to be content, is to keep my eyes on the Lord. Every time I am tempted to look at others, to shift my eyes to Jesus. Every time worry comes in, to take it to Jesus. Every time a situation comes up that is beyond my ability to solve, to look to Him and remind myself that He is at my right hand and I do not have to fear. Another translation of this verse says, “I keep my eyes always on the Lord…”, and I pray that in whichever situation we find ourselves in, physically, emotionally, or spiritually, that we will shift our eyes on the Lord. Because He is at our right hand, we will not be shaken.
