Remember who God is

“The Lord said to Moses, Speak to the Israelites and say to them: ‘I am the Lord your God.’” (Leviticus 18:1-2)

In the Old Testament, God had to remind the Israelites quite a few times that He is Lord and He is their God. They didn’t have to face anything on their own because He was with them. They didn’t lack because He was their provider. They didn’t have to fear the enemy because He fought on their behalf. Time and time again He would remind them of who He is and all He had done for them. And I realized, as I read this passage, that the same message is still valid for us today. Even when facing uncertainty or things get out of control, God is the Lord and He is our God. And then when fear grips our hearts and worry clouds our thoughts, God is the Lord and He is our God. The enemy might rise against us, but God is still the Lord and He is our God. He has not changed. And maybe we just needed this short reminder that every day of our lives, in every situation, this same message applies: God is the Lord and He is our God.
